No sooner have you arrived than the city calls: drop your bags in the room and head straight for Baščaršija — just a few minutes on foot. That first Bosnian coffee is best enjoyed right there. For the rest of the day, our Roadbook already has the right dinner spots lined up for the

evening.

Day 2 · Monday

City tour of Sarajevo & hike on Trebević

📷City tour of Sarajevo

Then the perspective shifts: on Trebević, you walk along the disused bobsled track from the 1984 Winter Olympics — guided or on your own, whichever you prefer.

You can book this activity as an add-on with a guided tour. Includes the cable car ticket and Bosnian mezze (a snack with a drink)

Day 3 · Tuesday

Sarajevo Food Tour or a free day

🍴 Sarajevo Food Tour

With this food tour, you’ll leave Sarajevo’s Old Town behind and discover a side of the city that many travelers never get to see: Grbavica, a typical socialist residential neighborhood with a turbulent history — especially during the Siege of Sarajevo in the 1990s. Six carefully selected stops await you: a traditional aščinica, a local bakery, a café, the local market, and finally a bar for a rakija or local beer.

You can book this activity as an add-on.

Hike to Lukomir or a trip to the Bosna River Spring

The route to Lukomir takes you through the highlands of Bjelašnica, an Olympic mountain: through Studeni Potok and then along the Rakitnica Canyon, the second-deepest canyon in Europe. After around 2.5 hours of hiking, you’ll reach the highest village in Bosnia and Herzegovina, where a traditional lunch awaits you before returning the same way.

Visit to the Spring of the Bosna River

Day 5 · Thursday

Sarajevo → Mostar

🚐 Rental car handover at the hotel

🚘 Drive to Mostar

No trip to Bosnia and Herzegovina is complete without driving through the Neretva Canyon. Even CNN has described it as one of the most beautiful routes in Europe — and it’s no wonder: as you cross from Bosnia into Herzegovina, the landscape changes from forests to Mediterranean vegetation and rocky scenery. And always by your side: the emerald-green Neretva River.

Our Roadbook is packed with suggestions for stops along the way.

🛶 Rafting on the Neretva can be booked as an add-on.

🛏️ Check-in at your 3-star hotel in Mostar

Day 6 · Friday

Blagaj Dervish Monastery, Fortress and Wine

🏰 Visit to Blagaj

A perfect day in Herzegovina: You’ll visit the Dervish Monastery in Blagaj, located at the spring of the Buna River, hike up to Stjepangrad Fortress, or simply relax by the Buna. Our Roadbook guides you to both and provides the cultural background along the way.

🍷 Wine tasting at the Royal-Imperial Winery

If you’d like, extend your afternoon with a guided wine tasting at a local winery: indigenous grape varieties, over 2,000 years of winemaking tradition, and a wine that was even loved by Franz Joseph and Sissi.

This activity can be booked as an add-on.

Day 7 · Saturday

Wine and Waterfalls

🏞️ Drive through Herzegovina

From the Ottoman village of Počitelj, you’ll continue through the karst landscape of Herzegovina to two of the most beautiful waterfalls in Bosnia and Herzegovina. One of them is Kravica, probably the most famous waterfall in the country. The second? A local hidden gem.

Our Roadbook shows you the route and gives you a few ideas for the afternoon. You can also extend the day with a guided wine tasting at a local winery — a perfect afternoon to slow down and stay a little longer.

You can book a wine tasting as an add-on.
